The Melbourne Cup is once again on its way to France after Dunaden won by the narrowest margin in the race's history after a pulsating run to the line with Red Cadeaux.
The official margin was a nose but a pixel might have been a better description.
The first two finished 1-1/4 lengths in front of Germany's Lucas Cranach, who edged last year's winner Americain in a photo for third.
There were 105,979 people at Flemington, but win, lose or draw they will head home with memories of one of the most dramatic finishes in Australian racing history.
